Essential Oils 101

 

Are you like me and have always heard of the miracle of essential oils but did not know where to begin?  I am here to introduce you to these essential oils, that I am enjoying. Because I have experienced such wonderful effects of these oils I have decided to join the doTerra Team.

What Are Essential Oils?

Essential oils are mysterious, they hide within the roots, flowers, seeds, and the other areas of the plant. It’s as if they want to remain a secret and only expose themselves to those who will cherish them. The oils of the plants are highly concentrated. As a result, each drop of oil is extremely potent. A little goes a long way.

Essential Oils For Therapeutic Benefits

Even though essential oils have recently gained popularity, they have been used throughout history.  Many cultures across the continents have used and continue to use essential oils for their medicinal and therapeutic benefits.

To be honest, there was so much information out there regarding the oils. I began with the four below. They have many therapeutic uses and are perfect to begin your essential oil journey.

Lavender- Lavender helps to alleviate stress, anxiety, irritability, mental fatigue, panic attacks, and depression. I diffuse it with other blends, such as Cedarwood for a restful sleep.

PeppermintPeppermint can be used topically to help relieve muscle and joint pain, and alleviate headaches. It can also be used aromatically to promote energy, help with headaches, relieve IBS, freshen breath, relieve seasonal allergies, reduce nausea, and repel bugs naturally.

In addition to Peppermint Oil there are also Peppermint Beadlets to wake up the senses.

When you bite into the Beadlet it gives you a burst of peppermint and keeps you alert. Perfect for my hour commute.

I also use the Peppermint Oil aromatically to help with my 3:00 p.m.slump. I mix a drop of  Peppermint with a drop of Wild Orange in the palm of my hands and inhale in my cupped hands. More refreshing than a cup of coffee without the caffeine crash later.

    1. I am!! I’m really enjoying it. In the short time I’ve been using them I see a difference. Especially in Julia. The oils calm her down before bed. I’m looking forward to sharing and giving people solutions. Thank you for commenting
