Well here I go my first blog post. I have talked about doing this for so long. Every time I thought about doing it, I would get excited and start and then I would immediately stop. Writing isn’t the problem. Actually it is easier for me to write then to speak. I have time to process, write, edit, process, and write some more. I am not one of those people who can come up with a quick comeback, I am more of the type of person who thinks about it for about 12-24 hours later thinks of the perfect response.
Writing something down in this age of pressing the share button has a whole set of consequences. Now it is permanent, forever, a part of your history. It can be Googled and referenced during a job interview, and even meeting a potential romantic partner. Imagine if you are running for office, how every word can be misconstrued, when taken out of context. You like a lion stalking its weaker prey.
When I was growing up it was a note or a letter that could be ripped up and burned, or a comment on the bathroom wall that could be scribbled over with a Sharpie. Now everything is out there, shared with people you haven’t met, and probably will never meet. Once it is out there in cyberspace you can never take it back. Maybe someone will invent the CyberSharpie.
However, as I am approaching my last year of my 40’s I have decided to push my fears aside, grow some thicker skin and go for it. Why not? I am not looking for a job or a romantic partner, and I am certainly not running for office. I hope you will join me.
I hope you will find this blog funny, informative, and worth your valuable time. Please comment, even if you don’t agree with me, I look forward to getting to know you.
