Can Freezer Meals Save This Family?

What’s for dinner?” Those three little words can send me over the edge like nothing else can. Especially, after a twelve hour day, which includes an hour commute each way.

I answer with a smile, “What would you like?” “I don’t know what do we have?” my daughter asks. Then, I  answer sarcastically, “Nothing, I didn’t buy anything while I was at the grocery store on Saturday.”  I  storm upstairs blaming my stay at home husband for not having a plan for dinner.  Not my finest moment as a parent or wife, and as a result, we all decamp to different areas of the house for the evening.

That was my wake up call, my home is supposed to be my sanctuary, I knew something needed to change. In my last blog, I mentioned that I partnered with Wildtree Organic Seasonings and Blends. I was curious about  their make ahead kits . The company bundles  blends along with recipes in a cute little box. The bundles also include a shopping list to make life easier for families.  Would this eliminate tension in my family?

We have very different food preferences in this house. My husband and I are trying to reduce our carbs, while my older daughter is a vegetarian. I picked three meals from the  The Wholly Delicious Kit, and three meals from The Veggies Lovers Kit.

I grabbed my list, and headed over to Trader Joe’s and bought my ingredients. Full disclosure, I cheated a bit and bought pre cut veggies if they were available. In less than two hours I had six meals, all packed in freezer bags and into the freezer.

Every morning before I left for work, I took out the freezer bag, and when I got home I put it in the oven and in less than an hour dinner was served. Did it resolve all the tension in my family? No, but there was one less thing for us to argue about.

Besides less tension in my family, there are other benefits of freezer meal prepping:

  • Spending less time in the kitchen, more time for fun activities
  • Preparing healthy meals that are ready to go, so you won’t be tempted to get fast food
  • Save money
  • There is less mess in your kitchen, which results in more time and less stress

Don’t want to do it alone? Have a few friends over for a meal prepping party. It’s a win/win. You will be able to catch up with your friends, and make sure your family doesn’t go hungry during the week.

Your family will be so happy that you are coming home with  10 meals, that they will want you to do this every week. You can also split a kit with a friend as well, and I am offering  a special coupon for 15% off on any purchase over $35.00 through March 7th. Just go to my site www.wildtree.com/jenniferamabile and at checkout use coupon code 76BCA5
